Producer profile:
The Baldissero company is located in the southern part of the municipality of Treiso; the name of the winery pays homage to Guido Baldissero, Marco’s grandfather, a winemaker who since the early ’50s personally managed the vineyards, producing a small amount of wine. The label shows the map of the municipality of Treiso and the location of the first vineyard acquired by his grandfather in 1953. After a life dedicated mainly to the delivery of grapes and the sale of bulk wine and demijohns, in 2015 Marco took over the reins of the winery; today the company is family-run with an annual production of about 9,000 bottles obtained from the 7 hectares of vineyards between the municipalities of Treiso, San Rocco Seno d’Elvio and Trezzo Tinella. The vineyard adjacent to the winery, cultivated with Nebbiolo-Barbera-Dolcetto-Syrah, has an excellent south/east exposure that allows to enjoy the sun’s rays with the milder temperature of the morning sun. What characterizes the Nebbiolo vineyard from which Barbaresco DOCG Riserva is obtained is the presence, within the same plot, of stratifications of Sant’Agata marl in different blue and gray colors. Within the same vineyard there is therefore a different type of soil that gives different results on the same grape variety; this type of soil is of Tortonian origin.
