Our Story
Manuel Conti learned to appreciate the finer things in life at the tender age of 13. His palate for virtuous wines started from working with his parents in their humble shop at the Central Market of San Lorenzo in Florence. The family business was steeped in history since 1929 and passed down through 4 generations.
Manuel shares “When I was about 18 years old I had the privilege of trying a bottle of Sassicaia -one of Italy’s most iconic and sought after wines- next to a cheap bottle of Tuscan wine, and the difference struck me; few months later I was already registered for the 1st level of the Italian Sommelier Association”
Manuel aspired to great things from a young age. He thrives on expanding his knowledge, skills and talent as he became hopelessly and passionately obsessed with wine, that took him on a journey of gastronomic enlightenment.
He started to work in restaurants all the way up to some of the finest Michelin Star restaurants in Italy and abroad. With countless experiences and years under his belt, he and his wife decided to make a change in search of ‘better opportunities’.
The land down-under was calling his name.
His 16 years of experience and discerning palate for wine reflects in his accolades and fine dining experience:
- 2010 Italian Sommelier Association (AIS) – Diploma Level 3
- 2015 Court of Master Sommelier – Certified Level
- 2019 Ruinart Sommelier Challenge Australia – Winner
- 2020 WSET – Diploma Level 4 in Wines & Spirits
- 2021 Best Sommelier of Australia – Top 12
